Clerical appointment. --Rev. Jos. Bixio, S. J. has been appointed Assistant Pastor of St. Mary's Church in this city. He will also have the pastoral charge of St. Mary's Church, Fairfax Station, and St. John's Church, Warrenton, and of the scattered Catholics on the line of the railroads leading to Alexandria. Rev. Mr. Bixio occupied the position to which he has now been appointed from six to eight years since, but has been more recently connected with Santa Clara College and the Mission of San Jose in California.--He arrived here on Wednesday from Boston, via Harper's Ferry.-- Alexandria Gazette.
Charles L. Scott, late member of Congress from California, is a private in one of the volunteer companies from Alabama, of which State he has become a resident. He is a Virginian by birth, a son of Robert G. Scott.
