Mississippi, 8,, exclusive of operations of General Pillow; Florida, 362, since January, 1864; East Louisiana, 81, for part July, August and September, 1864; East Tennessee, 5,220. Total, 81,993. It is conjectured that nearly an equal number have gone into the service, and been placed on rolls, who are not recorded in the crginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. In the month of June, 1863 the matter of conscription in the States of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee was taken from the control of this bureau and placed in the hands of Brigadier-General Pillow, who continued to administer it until January, 1864. This bureau hmore uniform and efficient service. It is believed the returns, since March, 1864, from those States are nearly correct. In the States of Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi there has been "failure" to execute the law of conscription for the reasons stated above. --In the other States it has been executed with as much
here in a few days. The rebel General Forrest, commanding the District of Mississippi, West Tennessee and East Louisiana, has established his headquarters at Jackson, Mississippi, and is conscrilty & Co., 15,000 bales, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas; M. V. Twiss, 5,000 bales, Tennessee and Louisiana; Mary P. Ceiceil, 5,000 bales, North Carolina; Henry Thompson, 1,000 bales, Norta quarter million shingles, Virginia and North Carolina; Leonard Swett, 50,000 bales, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi; same amount from Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas; same Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas; same amount from Louisiana and Mississippi; G. W. Lane, 1,000 bales, Chowan river, North Carolina; W. J. Bayless, recommended by Coleman, 2,500 bales, Newbern, North Carolina; S. B. Colby, recommended by500 hogs, 1,200 chickens, 100 tons butter, 500 cords wood, etc.; Cyrus M. Allen, 12,000 bales, Tennessee and Alabama; Robert Lamon, recommended by Ward H. Lamon, 50,000 bales from any Southern State;
