This regiment served until 1863 mainly in the department of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, during the greater part of 1863 in north Mississippi under Gen. J. E. Johnston, in C. C. Wilson's brigade; was in the battle of Chickamauga, in the Atlanta campaign of 1864, in Hood's expedition into Tennessee, and in the campaign of the Carolinas in the spring of 1865, surrendering with General Johnston. During its term of service Wm. J. Young became colonel; W. D. Mit
