Gen Wallace on Tuesday summoned the editor of the Transcript to account for the malicious paragraph, who, in justification said that he obtained it from a Philadelphia Sunday paper, either the Transcript or Mercury. At the request of General Wallace the AGeneral Wallace the Agent of the Associated Press at Philadelphia was telegraphed on the subject, who stated that such a statement was made by the Sunday Mercury of that city, but it was not by that paper credited to the Associated Press, nor was it furnished to the paper by any agent of the Association, as the paper in question did not take the Associated Press news. Thus it was proven that the attaching of the words "Associated Press" to the statement was the act of the editor of the Evening Transcript here, and
