The war Tax. --Mr. George M. Williamson has been appointed Collector, and Messrs, Jas. E. Riddick and Jas. Sinton. Jr. Assessors, of the Confederate War Tax in Jefferson Ward. The office is at the High Constable's room, on Governor street. The law requires that lists shall be handed in by the 21st of December, other wise a double tax will be imposed.
Death of an Alderman. --George E. Sadler, Esq., one of the Aldermen for Jefferson Ward, died yesterday morning about 2 o'clock, after an illness of a few days. Mr. Sadler, in former days, was an active politician of the Democratic school, and was a kind-hearted man in private life. His is the third death that has occurred on the magisterial bench during the present year, the other two being Messrs. R. M. Burton and C. B. Hill.
