his cluster was the old Bird Tavern, where the militia trainings and many public gatherings took place. The first dwelling in 1798 above Newton Street, on the south side of the main road, was then owned by Abijah Livermore and occupied by Eliphalet Warren. Before that date it had been the home of Peter Ball, a deputy sheriff, and one of the coroners of Middlesex in 1774, who removed to Brookfield and died there.
