terest in the welfare and comfort of the soldiers of Elizabeth City county, and now being busily engaged in their behalf, I wish to say that, in a recent conversation with the gallant Captain of the "Old Dominion Dragoons," I heard him express his high appreciation of, and deep feelings of gratitude for the liberal contributions already made to his company, remarking at the same time that his men had a plentiful supply of drawers and socks; also, some eighteen or twenty overcoats, given by Mrs. Wyche. They now need more overcoats and overhauls to protect them in rain. The overhauls, or India-rubber leggins, are a most useful article of clothing to a trooper, who, in cold rains and snows, will recall, with feelings of pride and thankfulness, the patriotic donors of these excellent presents. If the noble hearted ladies intend favoring them again with an expression of their kindness and sympathy, no present would be more highly appropriate or cordially received. Being a soldiers o
