tions to be divided among the persons who should enlist during the present week. August 25th, Voted, to pay two hundred and fifty dollars, including the one hundred dollars offered by the State, to each person who will enlist for the term of three years to fill our first quota of eighteen men; also voted to pay a bounty of one hundred dollars to each volunteer who shall enlist for nine months service. Addresses were made by Rev. Dr. Putnam of Roxbury, Rev. Dr. Blagden of Boston, and Rev. A. W. Stevens of Sterling. Captain Pratt of Sterling, who was forming a company in that town, invited the volunteers of Princeton to join it. The young men were then invited by the chairman to come forward and enlist. Several men responded and signed the papers. 1863. Nothing of importance appears to have been done by the town in its corporate capacity during this year. 1864.
