December 15th, 1864.—Reached Saltville; placed Burroughs in Fort Breckinridge, Barr, not wishing to attack the troops posted at Saltville, determined to pass by us on his way towardsssible. Barr, King, and Sawyer were left at Saltville; Barr in command.
