From Washington. Washington,April 7.
--The Indians and Mexicans in Texas are the objects of the army and navy expedition now fitting out at New York — so say intelligent army officers.
They will re-occupy Brazos, Fort Brown and the forts on the Indian frontier, where, according to official information, they will be met with a cordial welcome by the settlers.
Gov. Houston has given full advices to the Federal authorities here, and the result anticipated will be to re-establish him as Governor.
It is believed the battle between the two Confederacies will be fought on Texas soil.

The warlike movement at New York. New York,April 7.
--The steamer Atlantic had not sailed at 9 o'clock this morning.
The Illinois has steam on, and it is reported will leave with stores and troops to-night.
The Powhatan crossed the bar, bound out at 6 o'clock this afternoon.
The Nashville, advertised to sail this evening for Charleston, will be detained until the 9th inst.
Municipal elections. Portsmouth, Va.,April 6.
--John O'Lawrence, Union candidate, was elected Mayor to-day by 206 majority, over Mayer Grice, who had filled the office for twelve years.
Louisville,Ky.,April 7.--Ex-Mayor Delph, the Workingmen's "Union" candidate for Mayor, was elected Saturday by 1,200 majority.
