Miscellaneous cases.
--A warrant charging John L. Ray with assaulting William Harris was dismissed by the Mayor yesterday, the witnesses having failed to appear.
Mary Carroll, summoned to show why she should not be fined for selling ardent spirits on Sunday, was heard in her own defence and discharged.
Bridget Callahan, arrested for vagrancy, was admonished by the Mayor and released.
Wm. Jones, a lad, was fined five dollars for participating in a "rock battle," which sum his father was called upon to pay. The Mayor directed the police to give especial attention to the behavior of the boys on French Garden Hill.
