The War stake at New Market--"Beauregard" the Winner. On Thursday, the 17th instant, the sweepstakes for 3 year olds, two mile heats, was run at New Market, (near Petersburg,) it being the only ree quarters. At one or two points in the second mile, it was supposed by the spectators that Beauregard (Hare's) was "weakening;" but a third of the way down the home-stretch he managed to "slip up"3:57. For the second heat the start was not so good. Ninette losing considerably by it — Beauregard led at an improved pace, McDaniel's colt running at him very gallantly through nearly the wholway down the stretch, and at a few yards from the string the filly was a neck in the lead; but Beauregard made a terrific burst and won the heat by a few inches.
