Fremont, and it is asserted that the President will not remove him before giving him a fair chance to try his fortunes in battle. The influx of gold into the country continues, both from commercial sources and from the home product. California produces as much as ever, and the product of Oregon has become very important. Gold is also being found in Nova Scotia, and in the red river of the North, as well as at Pike's Peak. The product of Australia, and of the Ural mountains, continues undiminished. The immense annual addition to the general stock of gold arriving from all these sources, will have the effect which political economists have ascribed to it, in a general appreciation of value. In this country it will sustain and increase a vast bank and Government paper currency.
