nessee is regarded as effectually put down. County of Bartow, Ga.--an affecting The Milledgeville (Ga.) Recorder publishes the following: The bill introduced by Mr. Sheats was amended, on motion of Mr. Black, so as to change the name of Cassville to Bartowville, and in this form the bill was unanimously passed in the House of Representatives on the 13th inst., to change the name of Cass county to that of Bartow. The scene was solemn and impressive. Remarks were made by Mr. Hargrove, who was in the battle of Manassas, in the 7th Georgia Regiment, and by Mr. Speaker Akin, (Mr. Tatum, of Dade, in the Chair,) who was in Richmond when the battle was fought, and also by Messrs. Lester, Cochran, of Glynn, Black and Norwood. When the question was taken on the passage of the bill, all the members of the House rose to their feet in the affirmative, in honor of the "illustrious Bartow, who was killed while gallantly leading his men in battle." The House then adjourned until 9
