Death of a Virginian in Montgomery, Ala.
--From the Montgomery Hail, of the 10th inst, we take the following:
It is our melancholy duty-to announce today the unfortunate and untimely death of Mr. John Polleck, which took place yesterday evening at the Exchange Hotel, from the effects of a pistol shot received on Wednesday last, in a difficulty with a party of soldiers of Col. Clanton's regiment, encamped near this city.
This difficulty is sorely to be lamented.
Mr. Pollock was born and reared in the State of Virginia; and he was a gentlemanly, sociable, and unassuming young man, kind and accommodating in his manners, and was highly esteemed by his acquaintances.
He was connected in this city with the sinking business, and was only twenty-two years old.
