The London Herald's correspondent. We are pleased to see that Mr. S. P. Day, the correspondent of the London Herald and London Chronicle, who spent some months in Richmond last summer, and has since returned to London, has addressed a letter to the London Times, explicitly and emphatically contradicting the accounts transferred to that journal from Yankee papers, alleging that the prisoners in Richmond were treated with great cruelty. Mr. Day says that he was himself a spectator of the facts, and that the prisoners were treated with great kindness, and that he has sometimes seen tears of gratitude rilling down their checks at the unexpected proofs of humanity which they received. Sir James Ferguson, who spent some weeks in Richmond, has also written a letter to the Times to the same effect.
