Mr. Philan, of Miss., offered the following, which was agreed to. Resolved That the Committee on the Military be instructed to inquire into the expediency of entering a certain number of cooks for each company in the army; or of making some other provision by which the soldiers may be relieved from the preparation of their own food, and said service performed by persons specially employed for that purpose. --Also, that the committee inquire into the expediency of obtaining the services of slaves for that purpose.
