A bill was passed giving any funds or other property bequanthed by the American Bible Society to the Confederate States Bible Society, and exempting the same from the action of the sequestration act. Mr. Oldham of Texas, called up the joint resolution relative to Provost Marshals. They were passed by the following vote: Ayes--Messrs. Baker, Havnes, Hill, Hunter Johnson Lewis, Mitchell, Oldham, Orr, Preston Semmas and Yancey.--12. Nays--Messrs. Clay, Davis, Henry, Phelan, Sparrow, and Wigfall.--6. On the passage of the resolution, Mr. Phelan asked to say that though he believed the principle of the resolution correct he should vote against it, because thought it unconstitutional, as encroaching upon the Judiciary Department. The resolutions, as passed, are as follows: 1st Resolved, by the Congress of the Confederate States of America. that no officer of the Confederate Government is by law empowered to vest Provost Marshals with any
