Farmers resolutions. --The people of Nelson county, Va, held, on the 234 inst., a public meeting at which a series of resolutions were passed. Of the series we publish three, as follows: That in the opinion of this meeting the necessities of the army and people, and the best interests of the State absolutely require that every man, unless he is blind or indifferent to the fate of his country, should entirely abandon the cultivation of tobacco and devote all his labor (to its utmost capacity) to the production of supplies of every kind for consumption by the army, and the many non-producers at home. That we hereby express our deep regret at the passage, by the Legislature, of the law permitting the cultivation of 2,500 bills of tobacco to the hand, and cannot withhold the public manifestation of our earnest disapproval thereof; disappointed and surprised that an entire prohibition was not carried — satisfied, as we are, that it would have been cheerfully acquiesced in
