some difficulty relative to the proportion of profits to which oath was entitled.--McGee thought Travers had set his son to watch his movements, and when Travers the elder, had temporarily disappeared he commenced abusing the young man, and finally assaulted him with a poker. The opportune arrival of the father with a drawn pistol prevented further violence to the son. The Mayor remarked to McGee that difficulties might be settled with pokers in Baltimore, but such was not the case in Richmond. He held McGee to bail for his appearance to answer an indictment by the Grand Jury, and also required him to give security to keep the peace. It having leaked out that liquor had been sold in the house without a license, the Mayor fled Travers $50. M. Jacobs gave bail to appear before Judge Meredith for trial for being engaged in the recent "riot." The case against Melinda Emory and Jennet Williams, for the same offence, was continued, defendants giving bail for their appearance.
