Hard to capture. --Officers Morris and Perrin had a long chase after an accused party yesterday morning. Learning that persons suspected of garroting P. L. Gregory were lurking about 7th and Cary streets, they went there to make a search. As they entered one tenement James Smith left another, and, the officers discovering him, started in pursuit. At the corner of 5th and Cary Perrin came up with his man, but was suddenly turned on and given a blow, Smith jumping off at full speed and making for Gamble's hill. The officers continued their pursuit for more than a mile, when, by the aid of citizens, the fugitive was brought to a stand-still and captured.
