his attorney, a writ of habeas corpus, directed to Hon. Wm. H. Lyons, Judge of the Hustings Court, praying for relief, which was granted by the Judge, asking that Major Wilkins might be made to show his authority in the premises, and the cause of petitioner's detention. The writ was served on Saturday, and Monday (yesterday) was set for the hearing of the case. The petition for a habeas corpus, on the part of C. H. Anderson, represents that he is a citizen of Richmond, and of the State of Virginia; that he is under 15 years of age, and, consequently, liable to militia duty as one of the first class; that being unable himself to serve in the army from ill-health, he procured a substitute at considerable expense, who was accepted, as he is prepared to show, and that, therefore, he is an exempt.
