Attack upon a wife. --The connubial bliss of Michael Heran and his wife, Catherine, is a tale of days gone by, that at the present time has not left even an echo in the heart. This was shown yesterday by an affidavit made by the said Catherine before one of the officials of the Military Police. She was once a "bonny Kate," but now sadly altered by sorrow. She alleged that Michael, after a long continuance of brutal, conduct, had added to other indignities an assault with a chair, striking her violently upon the head. A guard was dispatched to capture the belligerent husband, who lives near Tyler's row, in Rocketts.
Discharged. --An examination before the Military Police yesterday proved the innocence of one Ann Scanlon, arrested upon the affidavit of John Reagan, a resident of Rocketts, who accused her of breaking open his trunk and taking therefrom $50 worth of jewelry. Ann said that her character was a richer jewel than the gilded baubles paraded on the person of frail humanity in general, and Mr. Reagan in particular. So the accused was let off, and the parties concerned went their several ways.
