Mowbray was before the Mayor yesterday, and the following evidence was given by the officer (Mr. Benj. M. Morris,) who arrested him: "On Monday night last I went to the establishment in which the prisoner was found, on Main, near 14th street. Not being able to gain admittance, I had to break down the door with an axe. After gaining an entrance. I pr (pointing to another part of the room,) and took in custody this gentleman, Mr. Mowbray. There also came into my possession, in addition to three faro tables, a large number of cards, one deal box, some checks, cues, &c." At the conclusion of Mr. Morris's testimony the Mayor asked Mowbray if he had any questions to ask the witness, to which M. replied that he had not at that time; he would be very thankful if the Mayor would continue the case till some future day, so that he might be enabled t
