The bill to pay certain claims against the Eastern Lunatic Asylum, passed by the Senate, and reported to the House, was committed. The following bills were reported: A bill in relation to omitted taxes and erroneous taxation and assessments; a bill abolishing the Board of Visitors of the Eastern Lunatic Asylum. A communication from the Governor was read, in relation to the death of Capt. Wm. B. Newton. Speeches on the character of the deceased were made by Messrs. Rutherfoord, Haymond, and McCue. After which the resolutions introduced on the subject were ordered to be placed upon the Journal, and a copy of the same to be sent the family of the deceased. The bill to regulate prices was read a second time and made the order of the day for 12 o'clock on Wednesday. A substitute for the original was offered, and ordered to be printed.
