A valuable battery. --Watson's battery, in command of Capt. A. Warson, was raised by some Louisiana planters, and equipped entirety at their own expense — the cost reaching about $125,000. It has been in the service since the war began, and fought through most of the battles down to Port Hudson. We understand that it is now preparing for a complete battery of 32 pound Parrotts, at a cost of some $75,000. It has negro drivers, which are also the property of the company. The new battery is intended to operate on the Mississippi, and we expect, from the character of the officers and men, that the Yankees in that quarter will soon hear thunder from it.
