The House was called to order at 12 o'clock M. by the Speaker. Prayer by Rev. Dr. Moore. The Speaker then announced a communication from the President, when the message was read by the Clerk. At the conclusion of its reading, The Chair laid before the House the reports of the Secretary of the Treasury, of the Secretary of War, Postmaster General, and Superintendent of Public Printing, which were ordered to be printed. On motion of Mr. Lyons, of Va., five thousand copies of the message were ordered to be printed. On motion of Mr. Miles, of S. C., the message and accompanying documents were referred to the Committee of the Whole, and the House resolved itself into Committee of the Whole, Mr. Curry, of Ala., taking the chair. No quorum being present, the House adjourned.
