Who is the Owner? --Some few days since the police officers arrested a negro named George, slave to John Clendenin, on the charge of receiving cloth stolen of John C. Shafer, and on searching his lodging-room discovered two barrels of whiskey and one of brandy, which they also took possession of. The negro boy, at the time oeeper of a saloon under Metropolitan Hall. The negro, it seems, bought the liquors and took a bill of them in Mr. Watkins's name, but stored them in a room on Mr. Clendenin's premises, where he slept. Both Mr. Watkins and Mr. Clendenin now claim the liquors, and the Mayor is to say this morning to whom they belong.
