A bill to increase the salaries of the Professors of the Virginia Military Institute was introduced from the Committee for Schools and Colleges. Mr. Robertson presented the memorial issued by the late Teachers' Convention; which was referred to the Committee for Schools and Colleges. The Speaker submitted to the House a letter from Gen. Morgan relative to the invitation extended him to visit that body, and accepting the same. Monday, at 2 o'clock P. M., was fixed upon as the time, and Messrs. Richardson, Buford, and Worsham appointed a committee to wait upon Gen. Morgan and acquaint him of the action of the House. The bill to repeal the law regarding exemption on religious grounds was discussed and laid on the table. The bill appropriating $150,000 to liquidate claims against the State for tobacco destroyed at the public warehouse last spring was passed. Adjourned.
