Edward claimed all the property in the stable as his, except the whiskey, which he said had been left there by a negro who intended to have sent it to Fredericksburg Sunday morning, but missed the train. He stated that Mr. C C Burnett stood master for him, and that he carried on, on his own account, the business of hauling on the streets.
