Mayor's Court. --Besides the cases mentioned elsewhere in this column there were several minor matters disposed of by the Mayor yesterday. Jim Lewis, who says he is a free negro from Charleston, S. C. was sent to Capt Coke to be put on the batteries. Fontaine, slave of Ellen Carpenter, was ordered to be whipped for harboring a runaway slave belonging to Jane E Edwards, and for having in his possession a key to a baggage car on the Fredericksburg railroad. Albert, a small negro belonging to Capt. Bass, was ordered to be whipped for stealing cakes in the Second Market, and was committed to jail as a runaway.
