Blair on Chase --Gen. Blair, member of Congress from Missouri, and brother of the Postmaster General, in advocating an inquiry into the management of McChase in the Treasury Department, made the following observations: I say here in my place, and upon my responsibility as a Representative, that a more profligate administration of the Treasury Department never existed under any Government; that the whole Mississippi Valley is rank and fetid with the frauds and corruptions practiced true of the "trade stores," as they are called — monopolies of trade in certain districts or cities in the South.
