Through the courtesy of Mr. W. C. Barnes, of the Southern Express Company, we have received Atlanta papers of the 14th inst. They contain the following late exposition of the position of affairs there:
The armies in Georgia are in close proximity at the foot of Kennesaw Mountain, and whilst such severe rains as have flooded the country during the past week, continue, the probability is that there will not be any grand movements on either side. ire movements of the day were intended to feel and learn accurately the position of our lines.
Sherman evidently was making a heavy wedge like centre movement.
He seems to have abandoned our left flank, or at least the intention to move toward Atlanta by that route, though his movements in that quarter are perfectly and securely guarded against.
