f Bacon's Quarter Branch was noticed, and this morning we record a similar occurrence in an easterly direction of the city. On Friday morning last a negro fellow, about whom nothing could be ascertained, was shot and killed in the garden of Mr. Samuel Ayres, residing opposite Mount Erin, a short distance beyond Rocketts.--One of Mr. A.'s servants was on watch, when, about one o'clock in the morning, his attention was drawn to a moving object about fifty yards ahead, which turned out upon closers then paid to the matter. Early in the morning, however, search was made, which resulted in the discovery, about three hundred yards from the point at which he was fired at, of the lifeless body of the daring rogue. Singular to relate, while Mr. Ayres's servant was gone to the house to give the alarm, a cart, in which were two negroes, drove up outside the fence and the corpse, was carried off before he could return; therefore it is not known who the thief was.
