ommotion of the times. The venerable Dr. Wilson, of the Seminary, still continues to enjoy good health. The Rev. Dr. Dabney, Dr. Smith and Professor Peck are also at their posts, the two former also officiating as pastors of the Hampden Sidney Church. The first volume of Dr. Dabney's Life of Gen. Jackson has gone to England for publication, and has been translated into the German by Professor Schale de Vere of the University of Virginia. Most of the old students of Hampden Sidney, like those of other Southern Colleges are in the field, and many of them have sacrificed their lives upon the altars of their country. Dr. Atkinson commanded a company of students at the beginning of the war; Dr. Dabney, was for sometime the Adjutant General of Gen. Johnston, and proved as efficient in that capacity as in the pulpit, and Professor Martin, one of the most gallant and genial of gentlemen, has proved himself both in scholarship and soldiership, one of the choice spirits of the times.
