blishes a card in the Memphis Argus, defining his position on the questions of the day, and denying the statements of Northern papers regarding his political status. Over seven hundred permits to bring cotton into our lines were granted at Memphis for the week ending the 18th, and one hundred and ninety-one for taking out supplies. Cotton permits cover fifty-one thousand nine hundred and forty-one bales and sixty-five thousand pounds loose. The value of supplies taken out is $257,000. The Washington Government has reliable advices that the ram Olinde, which has been the subject of so much speculation, had put into Corunna for repairs, which there is reason to believe she will not be allowed to receive, and without which she will not be dangerous. A cargo of rice, brought from Savannah by the steamer Greyhound, was sold at auction in Boston on Wednesday for the benefit of the poor of that city. The prices ranged from twelve to fifteen and a quarter cents per pound.
