--We find in the Boston Traveler the condensed report of the topics treated in a new lecture of Dr. Geo. B. Winship, of Massachusetts.
He advocated keeping the head up, the chest expanded; sleeping in a room through which there is a draft of air, after getting gradually accustomed to it; exercising with dumb bells, or something similar, every day or two, or three times a week, from twenty to forty minutes a day; avoiding all adulterations, and everything that has come in contact with zinc, lead or other poisonous substances; performing ablutions twice a week, and lifting to strengthen the muscles.
The speaker gave an account of progress in lifting until last May, when he succeeded in lifting 1,208 lbs, and by means of harness apparatus he lifted 1,900 lbs.
