McPherson (search for this): article 9
From Pensacola--another skirmish.
--The Observer, of the 19th, says:
We learn from a member of Capt. McPherson's company, stationed on Chootawatchee bay, that on last Sunday night the picket guard descried a small party of men approaching them in a launch.
When in a proper distance, the guard hailed them, but received no answer, fired at them, when the fire was returned — then ensued a general skirmish, one of the picket guards receiving several bullets in his coat and one in his hat. One of the men in the boat was seen to fall.
