[special Correspondence of the Dispatch.] Norfolk, Nov. 22, 1861. The examination of witnesses in the case of young Hughes, on trial in the Circuit Court, was concluded yesterday, and the argument opened by Simon S. Stubbs, Esq., in an able and effective address to the jury in behalf of the Commonwealth. The strongest points in the ease were clearly stated, the law fully and plainly set forth, and the character of the offence elucidated in an eloquent and impressive manner. Tazewell Taylor and John E. Ford, Esqs., followed, as counsel for the prisoner, with strong and convincing argument, and stirring appeals, that seemed to reach the minds and hearts of the jurors. Hon. John S. Millson, also counsel for the accused, will speak this morning, and after the closing address by Mr. Stubbs, Commonwealth's Attorney, the case will be given to the jury. The case of Claiborn Hughes, charged with killing Lieutenant Adams, was closed last evening in the Circuit Court. The prisoner was ably defend by his counsel--Hon. John S. Millson, Tazewell Taylor, and John E. Ford, Esqs. S. S. Stubbs, Esq., for the Commonwealth. Yesterday, General Millson addressed the jury in a speech of considerable length and with great ability; after which, Mr. Stubbs closed the argument, setting forth the law and the strong points in the case very clearly and strongly. Among those who have recently yielded an unwilling compliance we have heard the names of Rev. Mr. Rodman, pastor of Christ's Church; Dr. Tunstall, Dr. John B, Whitehead, Tazewell Taylor, Thos, H. Eilis, and others.
