The only punishment inflicted on Commander Collins was an order to take the Florida back to Brazil with all his prisoners, and deliver the vessel to the Brazilian Government intact. For this purpose the Florida was sent to Admiral Porter, at Hampton Roads, that she might be properly prepared for sea. The expedition against Fort Fisher was then fitting out, and the Roads were crowded with vessels of every description. While the Florida was lying in the stream an army transport came in collision with her, but did her no damage.
