Motion--The market (Saturday) is firm.
Breadstuff reports are contradictory.
Some say Flour is firm advancing tendency; Wheat buoyance and slant higher Corn quiet and 61 higher.
Others say Flour has advanced 6d.; Wheat advanced Holders of Corn advance which is not conceded.

Slavery in Kansas.
--A case came up before Judge Pettit, yesterday, in the District Court for the Territory, which involved the constitutionality of the anti-slavery bill passed by the Legislature last winter.
A negro woman, named Fanny, claimed by Horace Haley as a slave, left his custody some time ago, and went to live at the house of F. R. Foard.--Haley petitioned to recover possession of the "property," and Foard demurred, on the ground that Fanny was not a slave, as stated in the petition.
The case was argued by Lecompte, Matthias and Burns, for the plaintiff; and J. O. Douglas, Esq., for the defendant.--Judge Pettit overruled the demurrer, and decided that the law prohibiting slavery in Kansas was not constitutional.--Leavenworth Times, Jan. 1.

Arrival of the Overland Pony Express. Fort Kearney, Jan. 11.
--The pony express passed here at about one o'clock.
San Francisco, Dec. 29--2:40 P. M.--The steamer of the 1st of January will carry away about $1,500,000.
The general news for this express is unimportant.
Holiday festivities engage the attention of the people of San Francisco since the rainy weather has interrupted business.
Pony Express dates were received from Washington to the 14th inst. The serious aspect of the secession movement at that time forms the commonest topic of conversation and newspaper discussions.
The statement made in the United States Senate by Mr. Latham, that California will remain with the Union of the North and West, no matter what occurs at the South, is generally commended by the newspapers, and is undoubtedly a correct representation of a vast majority of our people on the disunion question.

--The steamer Bremen, from Southampton on the 1st instant, has arrived.
The bombardment of Gaeta continued.
Victor Emmanuel was at Turin.
The French fleet had left Gaeta.
The ship Golden Star, from Mobile, for Liverpool, had been wrecked near Oxford.
The captain, his wife, a servant girl, and sixteen of the crew, perished.
The mate and six of the crew were saved.
