[30] πλουτίζεται with allusion to Πλόύτων, as Hades was called by an euphemism(ὑποκοριστικῶς, schol. Aristoph. Pl. 727), ὅτι ἐκ τῆς κάτωθεν ἀνίεται ὁ πλοῦτος (crops and metals), as Plato says, Plat. Crat. 403a. Cp. Soph. fr. 251 (Nauck(2)) (from the satyric drama Inachus) Πλούτωνος (= Ἅιδου) ἥδ᾽ ἐπείσοδος: Lucian Timon 21(Πλοῦτος speaks), ὁ Πλούτων (Hades) ἀποστέλλει με παρ᾽ αὐτοὺς ἅτε πλουτοδότης καὶ μεγαλόδωρος καὶ αὐτὸς ὤν: δηλοῖ γοῦν καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι. Schneid. cp. Statius Theb. 2.48 pallentes devius umbras Trames agit nigrique Iovis vacua atria ditat Mortibus.
