[644] πτολεμίξων: most MSS. “π̔τ᾽ολεμίζων”, but the fut. is clearly best, and the evidence of MSS. between “ζ” and “ξ” is of little weight, see App. Crit. on 2.328, 10.451, 15.179, 24.667. The variant “πολεμίζειν” is quite admissible, and may have contributed to the confusion, which is, however, essentially graphic.
