[273] ἠλίβατος, a word of quite unknown origin and meaning; in H. always an epithet of “πέτρη” (Hymn. Ven. 267 of pines and oaks). The many explanations of the scholia are mere guesswork. πέτρη is the home of the goat, ὕλη of the stag.
