[494] ἐελδέσθω, in passive sense, let war be thy desire; a quite unique use. It might be supposed that there was an oxymoron in the use of κακός in this connexion; but the adjective is so commonly used of “πόλεμος” that it is no more than an epitheton ornans. θοός, see on 422.
