[419] The correct form ἐπεκράαινε is preserved here by the papyri, and in 5.508 by P. “κραιαίνω” is a mere figment, a supposed case of ‘Epic diectasis’; cf. “ἀκραάντου, κεκράανται. κραίνω” and “κρααίνω” are related as “κρα_τ-” and “κρα_ατ-”, head; cf. “ὀνοματ-”: “ὀνομαίνω” (van L. Ench. p. 494).
