[714] τετρίγει, creaked as the hands slipped over the skin. θρασειάων ἀπὸ χειρῶν else in Il. only of darts hurled from the hand (11.553, etc., cf. on 13.134). The phrase is evidently a reminiscence not very appropriately applied, as “ἀπό” has no meaning (cf. Od. 5.434 for a successful adaptation, “θρ. ἀπὸ χ. ῥινοὶ ἀπέδρυφθεν”).
