διέσχε: intrans., held its way, went through, so as to come out on the other side of the shoulder. cf. “δἰ ὤμου δ᾽ ὄβριμον ἔγχοςι ἔσχεν Ν” 519. Equiv. to “διῆλθε”. 101 = 283. cf. 347, 8.160. τῷ δ᾽ ἐπί: and over him, i.e. Diomed. cf. “ἐπεύχεται” 119.
