غِيَارٌ ذ The cognizance, or badge, of the free nonmuslim subjects of a Muslim government; such as the زُنَّار [or waist-belt] (Mgh, K) to the Magians, (Mgh,) and the like: (Mgh, K:) or, as some say, the cognizance, or badge, of the Jews.
