PETRONIUS MAXIMUS, DOMUS

on the Oppius, just north of S. Clemente, where ruins and inscriptions have been found (CIL vi. 1197-1198; HJ 303). Maximus seems to have constructed an open square here, before becoming emperor, which was probably close to his house in the via Labicana (see FORUM PETRONII MAXIMI).
